Shelley was an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Law in Trinity College Dublin and had in the last number of weeks been granted a Patent of Precedence by the Government and will be in practice as a Senior Counsel from next month, October 2025. She joins us on the podcast for an in-depth discussion on director's criminal liability.

In this podcast, Tom is delighted to be joined by Professor Blanaid Clarke, the McCann Fitzgerald Chair in Corporate Law at Trinity College where she lectures on a number of modules including Corporate Governance in the EU, Contract Law and, of course, Company Law. Many listeners who are relatively recently qualified solicitors and barristers will be most familiar with Blanaid as their former teacher of company law! Blanaid’s research interests include governance (corporate governance, fund governance and central bank governance), ethics and takeover law.
Blanaid is also Deputy Chair of the Irish Banking Culture Board, Chair of the Irish Corporate Governance Code Advisory Panel, the Irish representative on the OECD’s Corporate Governance Committee and a Vice President of the Academic Board of the European Banking Institute.

In this episode I’m in company with Paul Egan, an old friend with whom I worked for many years, as a colleague and fellow member of The Law Society, when I practised law for over 30 years and particularly when we both served on the Company Law Review Group.
Paul is currently the Chair of the Company Law Review Group, a member of the Council of the Law Society of Ireland, and a member of the Council of the Faculty of Notaries in Ireland.
Paul is the author of a number of company law books, including Irish Securities Law, published by Bloomsbury Professional, which was joint winner of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association law book of the year for 2021.
